the assignment for our austin-based Client Artisan Imports involved assistance with imports from mexico to the u.s., we provided counsel regarding import business practice, and quality vendor/product sourcing of specialized pottery from this country.

the first phase of our import project involved the research of several qualified suppliers within the targeted source region of mexico. thereafter we contacted each to procure wholesale price lists, product catalogues, photos, websites, and relevant supplier/product vetting information on behalf of our Client.

we conducted preliminary negotiation with suppliers in re pricing, INCOTERMS, minimum order requirements, mixed lots, payment protocols, and other client interests including negotiations related to the procurement of samples from selected suppliers (post client vetting).

full hands-on assistance is being was provided by the exim*trade mexico city Agent, with lead coordination and Client reporting being provided by scott maynard, our Senior Consultant. Additional assistance was also provided by the austin Agent.

this project eventually matured post- planning stage, and has culminated in the u.s. import of select promotional cd-rom materials from a single u.k. supplier.

exim*trade has served as our client's outsourced import department, allowing them to focus on other issues.

our previous work for this client regarding strategy, process, work practice, and legal aspects of the importation of the goods, together with freight forwarder and import broker selection and client- oriented rate negotiations will all served to facilitate the smooth importation of the purchased goods from the overseas supplier.

spearheaded by our own Senior Intern, this project was directed toward establishing an importing channel for interested parties in buying handmade, artistic candles from guatemala.

this project included research and contact with suppliers in guatemala, overseas and domestic freight forwarder research/contact, rate negotiation, review of u.s. tariff regulations, import processes, econometrics, u.s. market audits, and channel pricing.

preliminary target market for the imports was focused on the austin, texas sales area, with expansion throughout texas, united states, and elsewhere. worldwide market sales remain a target goal.

his first import, this project served as a capstone endeavor to estuardo's internship with exim*trade . our senior consultant and principal, scott maynard, served as consultant and mentor to the assignment.

this assignment included the assessment and selection of import clearance brokers, freight forwarders, and other service providers on behalf of the client, and freight rate negotiations and work practice set-up on their behalf.

this initial phase of the assignment was completed by the exim*trade senior consultant. additional, future assistance may be provided by the austin and london agents as the project matures post the preliminary stage.

provided our u.s. client BroadQ with assistance and counseling in the investigation and analysis of trade-based metrics and channel cost analysis for the movement of goods between Hong Kong and Tokyo.

our immediate assignment was focused on the procurement and analysis of transport costs associated with the movement of our Client's finished and unfinished product throughout the Pacific Rim. As such we are proved valuable assistance with the vetting and procurement of suitable forwarders and carriers at the Hong Kong export gateway, analysis of foreign import costs and duty/tax profiles, and provided expert management of forwarder/carrier bidding and communications.

the project included detailed review and consultation regarding import- export procedures pertinent to Hong Kong and targeted import gateways, and logistics chain set-up and evaluation. our counsel and assistance was focused but not limited to strategy, process, work practice, and legal aspects of the importation and exportation of their components and finished products in addition to the cargo metrics associated with the international drop-shipments.

this project included the assessment and selection of import clearance brokers, freight forwarders, and other service providers on behalf of the client, and freight rate negotiations and work practice set-up on their behalf.

assistance in the selection of various quality Hong Kong-based air cargo carriers and forwarders for the assignment was provided by the exim*trade hong kong agent, and has been instrumental in procuring competitive rates for carriage with each.

This open lecture and related discussions focused on international business in general, the role of exim*trade within the international community, international consulting, contemporary topics in international trade, travel, and culture, and more including background and history of exim*trade .

The visit included open Q & A regarding occupations in international business, and skill sets required for success, as well as general import-export issues and other topics.
